Direct Primary Care is a healthcare business and payment model in which patients pay a flat, recurring monthly fee directly to a primary care physician instead of billing traditional health insurance. Fortis Health does not accept health insurance or bill third-party payers for day-to-day services.
Unlike traditional doctors who manage 2,000 to 3,500 patients, DPC physicians typically cap their patient panel at 400 to 600 people. Because Fortis Health has fewer patients, appointments are unhurried, lasting 30 to 60 minutes. Same-day or next-day scheduling is widely available, and patients can often reach their doctor directly by phone, text, email, or video.
Memberships include routine checkups, preventive screenings, chronic disease management, basic in-office procedures like skin biopsies or EKGs, and wholesale or discounted pricing on lab tests and generic medications.
